British talent leads the way at International Emmy Awards

British talent triumphed at this year’s International Emmy Awards, with programmes and actors from the UK walking away with six of the awards.
BBC1’s The Street, made by ITV Studios, was named best drama series, while Bob Hoskins, who played Paddy Gargan in the series, was awarded the prize for best actor.
Meanwhile, Helena Bonham Carter was given the award for best actress for her performance as Enid Blyton in BBC4’s Enid, and Shaun the Sheep, made by Aardman Animations, was named best programme for children.
Small Island, based on Andrea Levy’s novel and shown on the BBC, won in the best TV mini-series category and Simon Cowell was presented with the International Emmy Founders Award in recognition of his contribution to television.
The awards, held last night in New York, honour excellence in programmes made outside of the US.
